We have all settled back into the routine of Summerfield and are busy trying to get assessments done for Year 11s as well as look at their next steps.

We have recruited a lovely School Careers Ambassador – Alexa, who is working hard to help me to create a dedicated Careers area within our school.  We are also looking for more students to join us.  As School Careers Ambassador the student will be part of the School Council but also have responsibility for helping to organise career events and gather feedback from other students.  If you look on the form WANTED Pupil Ambassador, (in the student section) you will see if comes with a good salary and the chance to enhance your CV.

We are also excited to be working with Stafford University taking part in some virtual Health and Social Events that will provide students with an insight into life at university as well as courses and what their progression will be.  Please see information guide on the side.

We will be welcoming Neil Stoddard our Independent Careers Advisor into school on 20th May to give students help and advice about their future.  Parents, please contact Maria if you wish to have some time with Neil to look at future options for your child.

We have secured funding for Years 10s and 11s to take part in the Development School Programme to support students to Plan for their future, by developing their confidence, expanding their employability skills and enhancing their communication techniques.  At the end of the programme students will build a Destination plan throughout the programme with useful resources.

Tina Patel from Work Pays visits the school every Thursday afternoon to offer these bespoke packages to our students engaged on the programme.  If you would more information on this programme, please contact Maria on 0121 779 8090.

And finally, we are pleased to announce that Summerfield Education Centre will be supported by Jayne Licari from BNP Paribas Personal Finance our dedicated Enterprise Adviser and Speakers for School to deliver “Dragons Den” this will be a whole school approach and will help the students to engage in real life business scenarios and give them an understanding of the world of work.  Please see information in the attachments.
