Hello – Summerfield Education Centre believes that every student can achieve their potential, and as such, we have developed a careers programme lead by Maria Galbraith, who has recently completed her Level 7 Careers Award at Nottingham University.  Mrs Tina Whitehouse; Headteacher, has strategic leadership for careers, and Mrs Nicola Capok is Designated Lead overseeing the programme, as well as all the staff team who work to ensure students receive the best possible outcomes for their career progression.

Whilst at Summerfield Education Centre, all students will have the opportunity to develop skills required for their future working life and to look at and explore options.

We are proud to be in partnership with BNP Paribas who are a leading investment bank and international financial services provider for corporate clients.  It is the largest banking group in Europe.  They have a base in Solihull and our contact Jayne Licari has introduced the students to the world of banking and team work as well as organising our Dragons Den week – where students worked in a team, designed an App for the company and presented their product with the winning team going to Drayton Manor.

How do we know we are doing ok?

The 8 Gatsby Benchmarks play a key role in young people’s aspirations and promoting their success in their Career Pathway.  The Gatsby Benchmarks are a statutory requirement for all schools to work toward.   At Summerfield Education Centre in 2019/ 2020 we have gained 100% achievement in 7 of the Gatsby Benchmarks and 90% in the other.    In order to achieve this success students have experienced:

Virtual University visits.

Attended The Skills Show.

Taken part in volunteering work.

Attended Careers Interviews.

Looked at Colleges.

Undertaken work experience.

Gained advice from an Independent Careers Advisor.

Taken part in Dragon’s Den.
